Text Games, also dubbed Multi User Dungeons (MUDs), are an interactive online text based game. Players in one
of these games create a character to act out a specific persona while wandering around a virtual user environment in
real time. Text game themes are diversified and range from Dungeon and Dragons fantasy game play, to the latest Harry
Potter themes, to Star Wars shoot-em-up hack and slash gaming. Recent studies have shown text gaming to be a cyber

specific characteristics for their persona. After the character creation process, a player will interact with other
players; often role-playing out their characters theme. This real time interaction takes on the form of global game
chat, movement through virtual rooms, interaction with non player characters, performance of quests, and more ( see playing ).
